2nd Grade Starts NOW

Okay, so it's really a continuation of our 1st grade work, but we have a few weeks of Summer without regular activities or camps and the kids are driving me nuts, so we are starting NOW.

My goal is to be more diligent about blogging this year, so I'm going to try to do it quickly at the end of each day/week?  So I can keep track of what we're doing more easily!!

Week of 7/31-8/5 (??)

We worked on adding 4 digits using 1000s cubes, 100s, 10s, 1s.  We also did Build Your Library during this time and did some timeline and map work, Mohenjo-Daro, Ancient China and the silkworms as well as finishing up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the 1st Grade Curriculum.

Then they were playing with nerf guns and getting bullets everywhere, so I decided to make it a game (since I hadn't put the ladder away yet, anyway!) and made it a game for Eleanor to add up all the numbers... sneaky math!

Some STEM unschooling as they help me put together the PVC pipes to create a sprinkler for the backyard.  We all had fun finding pieces, so I'd like to disassemble and do it again another way!
